2023 Annual Conference & Expo

The 75th NAFSA Annual Conference & Expo was held May 30–June 2 in Washington, DC. Together, we learned and connected with peers and experts dedicated to "Inspiring an Inclusive Future." Thank you for being a part of the most diverse, comprehensive, and exciting international education conference and exposition!

Join us at the NAFSA 2024 Annual Conference & Expo in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The theme for the 75th NAFSA Annual Conference & Expo is “Inspiring an Inclusive Future,” building on 75 years of our commitment to diversity in international education. Over the past decade, we have codified that vision into our Diversity and Inclusion Statement and established inclusion and equity as one of our core professional competencies. We created the NAFSA Award for Impact in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to honor those who are making a difference in their communities and around the world, and the RISE Fellowship, to ensure that the next generation of international education leaders is as diverse as our students.

Attendees of the 75th NAFSA Annual Conference & Expo can engage with programming focused on inclusion in international education. The 2023 program includes a workshop on DEI Change Management in Education Abroad [link to come]; a  Symposium on Leadership: Decolonization, Indigenization, and International Education; and numerous sessions on strengthening access for people of color, students and colleagues with disabilities, and members of the LGBTQ community. See the online planner for more information on programming about these and related topics. In the online planner, you can filter the Full Schedule by Content Focus Area to see the specific sessions focused on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.  You might also join a meeting of one of NAFSA’s 35+ member interest groups, which celebrate the diversity of the international education community by gathering colleagues based on dimensions of their career, affinity for a region or country, and core aspects of their identity.

On site at NAFSA 2023, there are gender-neutral restrooms throughout Washington Convention Center, pronoun buttons available in the registration area, and sign language interpreters and captioning at all plenary addresses. A shuttle bus for attendees with disabilities provides on-demand transportation between conference venues.

NAFSA wants to ensure access for all members of our community. Individuals registering for the conference may request accessibility services at the time of registration, or e-mail [email protected] and provide a brief overview of services required. The conference team will follow up to request additional details and provide specifics. If attendees request ASL interpretation, they are asked to provide as complete a schedule as possible at least one week prior to the conference to ensure interpreters are available; interpreters are flexible with schedule changes prior to and during the conference.

For more information on accessibility at the conference, visit the Hotels & Travel page.

NAFSA is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, welcoming, and productive environment for all attendees.
