Do financial documents need to be less than six months old? Do schools have to use SEVIS transfer forms? Do you need to look at a passport before creating an 1-20? Explore some standard practices that are often thought to be based in regulation but are not, and discuss how to create policies that work for your own campus.

The Secret Sauce for Building a Culture of Trust and Compliance

KC: EA

Tried everything to get your faculty-led program directors to understand the critical importance of risk management policies and protocols? Do they still grumble about having to attend your mandatory trainings? Learn how to earn their respect and compliance by framing the conversation squarely within the legal ramifications they face as program directors and how to best protect themselves. Even the most independent faculty member will become cooperative once they realize how they benefit from adhering to policy!

Bridging the Gap: Translating Experiential Learning into Career Skills

KC: EA

Many students will describe their study abroad experiences as "life-changing" - but what does that mean? How can students leverage their international experiences outside of the world of study abroad? This interactive session will discuss how international educators can help students connect their experiences abroad with their personal and professional development. Sharing strategies used by both a one-person study abroad office and a provider, we will introduce ideas for implementing resume workshops, guiding students through an exploration of career values, and assessing skills gained while abroad. Together, we will workshop ways to engage students in critical reflection to translate their life-changing moments into evidence of career readiness.

The A1B1C1's of English Language Assessment: Using CEFR as a Guide to Future-Proof Prociency Requirements for Admission

KC: IEM

The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is an internationally recognized standard for language proficiency assessment. While some higher education institutions have taken an approach to accepting any recognized assessment aligned to CEFR, many continue to continue to list individual assessments and required score ranges, which in turn need to be regularly updated as assessments adjust their scoring or new assessments come to market. This session will begin with an overview of the CEFR and learner outcomes at the various levels. We will then explore the current state of English proficiency.
